Ranchi, Sept 12: The Ranchi University Vice Chancellor Ajit Kumar Sinha on Monday visited the campus of Doranda College to talk to the teachers and principal and assured them of several steps that will be taken by the University administration to make the college campus a safe space within the coming week. This comes after the recent assault on a professor of the college.

While addressing the teachers, the VC said, “The comparatively larger number of female teachers and the location of the college demands that special safety measures be taken by the university. For this, I would also urge the support of the teachers of the college.”

VC Sinha further said, “We have talked to the ex-military man association in New Delhi and will be hiring former military men as guards on the campus.”

A total of 15 men are to be hired of which three will be armed guards that will guard the campus in shifts. Furthermore, the VC announced plans to set up intercom systems throughout the college.

He further instructed the principal that ID cards and uniforms for all students be made a must. The VC then said that he would find out who deleted the recording from August 21 to the date of the incident. Furthermore, the complete CCTV management on the campus will be handed over to the organisation that takes care of CCTV at Ranchi admin and RTO.

He also assured that all shops set up around the college will be removed, as per assurances from Ranchi DC Rahul Sinha. Moreover, the VC assured that a report regarding the incident will be made and shared with the Governor, the Chief Minister and the DC.

Later, while talking to lagatar24.com, the VC shared his plans to provide similar security measures to all constituent colleges under the University soon. He also suggested that admission counters and help desks be set up outside the campus.

RU DSW Raj Kumar urged the teachers to not participate in scams of money for admissions and examinations that take place in the college. He said that such incidents should always be taken to higher authorities. He also said that a college is not a school that needs parents to visit the teachers and other offices repeatedly. Candidates may themselves go inside the college only, the DSW added.

On the occasion, several students and teachers also gave their memorandums to the VC.
