Ranchi, Sept 16: The Enforcement Directorate has confiscated properties worth Rs 80 Lakh from a construction company M/s Nav Nirman Builders and Developers Pvt Ltd following the special PMLA court in Ranchi.

They confiscated this property as part of the investigation of the bitumen scam. A money laundering investigation was launched on the basis of a predicate offence being investigated by the CBI.

The ED said that the concerned company had raised immovable properties through one of its sister concerns, M/s Nav Nirman Builders. This contracting firm was found involved in forging documents and invoices to show procurement of bitumen for the execution of contractual works in Jharkhand.

The ED has informed that the tainted properties were part of the proceeds of the crime which were detected during the course of the investigation. An order provisionally attached the properties on 31st March 2017. The Adjudicating Authority of the ED further confirmed the attachment on 8th September 2017. The ED filed the chargesheet on 31st March 2018 and the trial was started.

Dharamveer Bhadoria, the director of M/s Nav Nirman Builders and Developers Pvt. Ltd was one of the accused. But he died during the course of the trial. In March this year, the ED moved a petition before the PMLA court for the confiscation of the tainted properties.
