New Delhi, Sept 18: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in London for the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and to express condolences on behalf of the Indian government on Saturday night.
Before her funeral on September 19 at Westminster Abbey, Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8 at the age of 96 at her Scottish vacation home at Balmoral Castle, is lying in state at Westminster Hall.
During her three-day visit to the UK, President Murmu will attend the funeral on Monday and is also invited to a banquet for world leaders that King Charles III is hosting at Buckingham Palace on Sunday night.
“President Droupadi Murmu emplanes for London, United Kingdom, to attend the state funeral of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II and offer condolences on behalf of the Government of India,” the Rashtrapati Bhavan tweeted.
