Ranchi, Oct 20: Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey, General Secretary Bholanath Singh and other officials of Hockey India reached Rourkela on Thursday to take stock of the preparations for the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 to be held in Rourkela and Bhubaneswar, Odisha from January 13 to 29, 2023. They also took a round of the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium which is under construction in Rourkela.
The officials visited the areas including the stadium, players’ accommodation etc. at Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium and were satisfied with the works.
They said that it will be one of the best stadiums in the world and many World Cup matches are going to be held on this ground.
Jharkhand’s southern Chotanagpur region and Sundergarh district of Orissa have thousands of hockey players. The 100 km radius of the new stadium in Rourkela has India’s highest number of female men’s hockey players and the World Cup is being held there to show its grandeur.
After inspecting the stadium of Rourkela, all the officials will go to Bhubaneshwar to take stock of the stadium located in Bhubaneswar.
