Ranchi, Oct 26: A NITI Aayog team led by its Vice Chairman Suman Bery reached the state capital on Wednesday to take stock of aspirational districts in the state. Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh and other senior officials updated the visiting team.

Bery along with his team inspected the primary health center at Pithoria and the drip irrigation system on the fields of farmers at Ichapiri Panchayat in Ranchi district.

He also inspected the new cold chain center at the primary health center in Pithoria to keep the medicine in the standard temperature for a long time. During the inspection, the team was informed about the use of cold chains by Ranchi Civil Surgeon and about AYUSH medicine.

Besides, the NITI Aayog team inspected the vegetables on the fields of the farmers of Ichapidi Panchayat and also talked to the farmers present on the fields to know the way of farming by them and also listened to their problems.

On the occasion, Ainul Haque Ansari, member of Panchayat Samiti of Ichapiri said that for the first time a central government team has come to their panchayat and that it was a matter of great happiness for the farmers. Pithoria is considered to be the stronghold of farmers; from here vegetables are exported to other states.

Deputy Chief of Panchayat Mohammad Gufran Ansari said that they have apprised the team of NITI Aayog about the problem related to irrigation.

“If irrigation facility is available then the crop production will double. With irrigation the farmers here can produce two times the crop. We have requested the team members to install deep boring for the farmers of the area,” Ansari said.

Farmer Safiullah Ansari said that a small river flows in the village. If a check dam is constructed on it, it will be a great gift to the farmers here, he said. While the Pithoria region has always been known for agriculture, there is a serious problem of water during the summer.

Firoz Ansari, a farmer using drip irrigation for cultivation, said that for the last two years he has been using drip irrigation on his field for farming. Now he produces twice the vegetables as compared to earlier. “Earlier, we were able to do only two to three crops, but now we can produce five to six crops. In addition, drip irrigation saves water and also saves food,” he said.

Divisional Commissioner South Chotanagpur, Deputy Development Commissioner, Ranchi, Sub-Divisional Officer Ranchi, Agriculture Department officials, Kanke Circle Officer, Rural SP Naushad Alam, DSP Neeraj Kumar were present on the occasion along with the team of NITI Aayog.
