New Delhi, Nov 2: India defeated Bangladesh by 5 runs, moving to the top of their division, in T20 World Cup match on Wednesday at the Adelaide Oval.
With Litton Das smashing 50 off just 21 balls, Bangladesh was well on course to reach the goal as India was chasing 185.
Rain interrupted the game after 7 overs, with Bangladesh batting at 66/0. Bangladesh would have been pleased at that time because, according to the DLS algorithm, they were 17 runs ahead.
The rain eventually ceased, but it cost Bangladesh overs because they now had to chase a revised 151 runs in 16 overs. The break was extremely beneficial to India because Bangladesh lost both of their openers fast and their focus may have been impaired by the pause in play.
Captain Shakib Al Hasan made an effort, but time and the weather conspired against him, as Deepak Hooda caught him off Arshdeep’s delivery. Following that, Bangladesh began to lose wickets on a regular basis as India increased the pressure.
