New Delhi, Nov 4: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, said on Friday that air pollution is a catastrophe that affects all of India, with many areas of North India experiencing severe air pollution. This comes after Delhi’s air quality remained in the “severe” category for a second day in a row.

“We take full responsibility for increasing farm fires in Punjab. We have taken steps to control it. Stubble burning will come down by next year,” he said.

The convenor of the Aam Admi Party emphasised that the central government must develop a coordinated action plan to address air pollution and that now is not the time to make accusations.

According to Punjab Chief Minister Mann, the rise in stubble burning is a result of record-high farm output. As long as farmers receive Minimum Support Prices, the Punjab Chief Minister stated, his administration is considering diversifying away from paddy the following year. He offered substitutes including bajra, poplars, and vegetables.

In addition,  Kejriwal stated that from tomorrow, primary schools in the capital will be closed. He also stated that the “odd-even” policy was being studied and would be put into practise if necessary. All outdoor sporting events for pupils in grades 5 and up will also be cancelled.

Kejriwal also shared a list in twitter of Air Quality Index in some north Indian cities where several in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and one in Rajasthan also have “severe” air pollution.

See pollution in North Indian towns. Its not just Punjab and Del. Entire North India suffering from severe pollution. Lets stop blame game. Lets find solutions as a country
