New Delhi, Nov 4: Football player Lionel “Leo” Messi has been chosen by edtech giant BYJU’s to serve as the first worldwide brand ambassador of its Education For All social impact arm, the business announced on Friday.

Messi, the Argentine football team’s captain and a player for Paris Saint-Germain, has inked a deal with BYJU’S to advance the cause of equal education, the company announced in a statement.

Considering that there are around 3.5 billion followers of football globally and that Lionel Messi has a social media following of almost 450 million, BYJU’s involvement with Messi will increase the edtech company’s visibility abroad.

Earlier this year, BYJU’S became the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

“High-quality education changes lives, and BYJU’S has transformed the career paths of millions of students worldwide. I hope to inspire young learners to reach and remain at the top,” said Messi.
