Ranchi, Nov 7: The Supreme Court is set to decide the fate of the two much talked about PILs namely 4290/21 and 727/22 today which will also decide the fate of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
The PIL is related to the alleged laundering through shell companies and the chief minister availing the stone mining lease in his name in his capacity as the CM.
The matter is set to be heard by Chief Justice UU Lalit and Justice SR Bhat. Tomorrow is the last working day of the Supreme Court Chief Justice; hence, it is required for him to pass the order in all such cases heard by him in the past and the order was reserved. The order of the division bench of the Supreme Court will be related to the maintainability of both the PILs. If the Supreme Court finds both the PILs are maintainable then in such a condition the Jharkhand High Court can further hear this case.
In August, the division bench of Justice UU Lalit and Justice SR Bhat had stayed the hearing of both PILs after Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the Jharkhand government filed separate petitions before the Supreme Court challenging its maintainability. Both PILs were originally filed by Shiv Shankar Sharma and the case was argued by Jharkhand High Court advocate Rajiv Kumar. In the meantime, the advocate was arrested in Kolkata along with Rs 50 Lakh cash. It was alleged that the cash seized from his possession, he had extorted from Kolkata-based businessman Amit Agrawal.
