Ranchi, Nov 15: AICC Secretary General and Jharkhand in-charge Avinash Pande praised Chief Minister Hemant Soren for taking care of the people of the state during the past three “most troublesome years” on Statehood Foundation Day on Tuesday.
“I like to congratulate the young and brave leader of our UPA government Chief Minister Hemant Soren for having given a strong leadership during the unprecedented pandemic that shook the world and the most unfair political challenges thrown at him,” he said.
Speaking on the 22nd Foundation Day programme at Morabadi ground, Pande said that the state celebrates the foundation day on November 15 as it is the birthday of tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda who led a movement against the British rule.
“Soren acted as a major support to the people of Jharkhand when the world was turning upside down. He managed to offer good governance despite all odds including political challenges that threatened to hijack the faith of people reposed in the UPA government.
“The opposition does not want the benefits to reach the public while the CM has ensured that the people of Jharkhand get all support in terms of education, skills, health, jobs, pension and scholarships, particularly to youths who are the future of the state,” he said.
Pande said that the state has covered a long journey from the days of JMM chief Sibu Soren who led the movement for a separate tribal state to the current times when his son and Chief Minister Hemant Soren brought back the dignity of tribals of the state.
“The state has moved ahead of many other states during the last three years under Hemant Soren’s leadership. Despite political challenges, the UPA government passed both the 1932 domicile policy and also the 27% quota for OBCs without hurting anyone,” he said.
Pande said that the state is seeing a start of a new era. The Centre can at least not be a hurdle and instead help the state in helping tribals, dalits and backward population by respecting the wishes of the state and the spirit of federalism,” the Congressman said.
“The Centre should approve our proposal for Sarna code sent to them. I appreciate the government’s decision to create one lakh wells and ponds and execute at least five projects in each village. The government should come out with special schemes for farmers to deal with the drought situation.
“While the opposition used to laugh at our rural job guarantee scheme MGNREGA, it’s the same scheme that helped the population during the pandemic. Jharkhand was able to offer 99.9 per cent work demands and we gave an additional Rs 27 per man-day that saved the people from hunger and the state from any rebellion,” he said.
