Ranchi, Nov.24: Edalhatu, a place in the heart of Jharkhand’s capital where a land dealer, Dhawan Ram, was shot dead on Wednesday evening, today morning witnessed people’s unrest compelling police to swing into action.
People had blocked all the roads leading to Edalhatu and had closed all business establishments to mark their protest against the murder and bring life almost to a standstill. They expressed their anger over the deteriorating law and order in the state capital and gave a message that they were not ready to tolerate the situation anymore.
Police took serious note of people’s unrest and reached the locality as soon as they got the information and were persuaded to end the blockade and cooperate with the district administration. The police assured them of proper action in the matter. After being convinced, people allowed traffic movement but kept their shops closed.
SP (rural) Naushad Alam, who is also in charge of SP (city), confirmed the situation, informing about the actions taken to nab the criminals involved in the incident.
“Suspecting the hands of Kalu Lama’s gang, we have detained three aides of the Lama and questioned them. We are also behind one more suspect. The help of CCTV footage is also being taken to identify the criminals,” Alam said confirming the situation.
He said an SIT will also be constituted to probe the murder case.
Around 6:30 pm on Wednesday, when Ram along with his two friends Bhola Singh and Gandhi were standing beside a bonfire playing a game on his mobile at Edalhatu ground, three armed miscreants indiscriminately opened fire on him.
The miscreants came on a bike and parked it properly at a distance before opening fires. Ram, who took six bullets, fell down on the spot. The miscreants managed to escape. Ram was taken to RIMS, where doctors declared him dead.
