New Delhi, Dec 1: Delhi Police approached the Delhi High Court on Thursday challenging the decision more than a year after a court cleared Congress MP Shashi Tharoor of all charges in a case involving the murder of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.
Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma, a single judge, heard the case on Thursday and gave Tharoor notice in response to the Delhi Police’s request for a pardon for the delay in submitting the revision petition.
The following hearing will take place on February 7, 2023.
Senior Advocate Vikas Pahwa, appearing for Shashi Tharoor, apprised the Court that during the course of trial, various orders were passed by the lower courts and HC where the records of this case must not be shared with anyone.

Tharoor was accused of abetting the death of Pushkar who was found dead inside a hotel room in January 2014.
Though the Delhi Police initially investigated the same as a murder, with an FIR registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), it charged Tharoor under Sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 498A (cruelty by husband).

Tharoor was exonerated in the matter in August 2021 by a special court in Delhi that deals with crimes involving legislators. The court had noted that in expelling Tharoor, it had not discovered any proof that Tharoor had acted in a way that would have provoked, urged, or incited Pushkar to commit suicide.
Senior Counsel Vikas Pahwa, representing Tharoor at the hearing on the Delhi Police’s petition on Thursday, called attention to the petition’s tardy filing as well as other problems.
“The petition copy has not been served on us. They have deliberately used the email id which was suspended by them. There is 15 month delay in this,” it was submitted.
