Daltonganj, Dec 5: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has done a big political strike in its party outfit Jharkhand. It has dropped 23 district presidents, retaining just 2 to have second consecutive terms.

However, there is no change of guard in the Palamu Congress district setup. Its previous district president Jaish Ranjan Pathak has been retained to lead the party as its district president for the second consecutive term of 5 years.

A press release on the letterhead of K C Venugopal, MP, General Secretary of the AICC dated December 4  announced the name of Jaish Ranjan Pathak as the district president.

Speaking to lagatar24.com today, Pathak said, “I am just a soldier of the Congress party. I express my gratitude to our leaders in the state set up and the high command of the Congress in Delhi for having this faith and trust in retaining me as the district president for the second consecutive term.”

“The challenges are big and expectations of people in the Congress are also rising high following the Bharat Jodo Yatra by Rahul Gandhi. I and our team, party cadres and big of all our people of Palamu will work together to build Palamu a place of peace and progress,” he added.

The AICC has also retained Muneshwar Oraon who has been notified to remain the Latehar district Congress president for the second consecutive term in continuation.

Meanwhile, 23 district presidents have been changed in the state. The AICC has nominated Kumar Raja as the Congress president for Ranchi Town while Rakesh Kiran Mahto is the Congress president for Ranchi Rural.

Garhwa saw a new president in Shrikant Tiwary to act as the district president there.

Sources said there was an intense political exercise here in Palamu to see the exit of Jaish Ranjan Pathak but he succeeded in retaining his position quite comfortably.

Pathak is the Palamu district Congress president at such a time when there is no Congress MLA in any of the 5 assembly constituencies here nor has the Congress any of its MPs here.

Reminded that he would be seeing two major elections all in 2024 that is Lok Sabha and Jharkhand assembly election and how he plans for it from now to which Pathak said, “We are making outreach with people of all walks of life. Common people still believe Congress can do it. We will do all to help the people of Palamu.”
