Ranchi, Dec.8: Senior legislator Saryu Roy today asked the Directorate of Enforcement to take cognizance of an FIR filed by the Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Doranda police station.
The case is related to the then ADG Anurag Gupta opening a parallel office of the Special Branch for tapping and handing it over to a private person.
Roy raised the demand through a tweet saying that if the investigation is done a big case of money laundering will come out.
Roy with his tweet annexed a document provided by the Jharkhand assembly which reflects that the veteran MLA had raised the issue in the assembly last year in March and the state government also gave its reply to this question partially accepting his allegation.
The document suggests that the legislator wanted to know from the government whether an illegal office of the special branch of Jharkhand police was running during the year 2015-2019 by an unauthorized person and the person was being provided all government facilities.
Regarding which the government said that the then ADG (special branch) (read Anurag Gupta) writing two letters in November 2017 and January 2018 to the building construction department secretary had got allotted two buildings in February 2018. Out of the two buildings one was being used to run the office of a special branch while a non-government person used to reside in another building, the government said.
The government denied any unauthorized activities being carried out but said that matters related to use of government facilities by a non-government was being reviewed by the police department.
The document suggests that the legislator also wanted to know that a similar office was running at the CID headquarters where phones were being tapped in an unauthorized manner. Regarding which the government replied that an FIR was registered in this connection by CID at Doranda police station on July 18, 2020 and the matter is under investigation.
Visited Doranda police station to know the status of the case registered on July 18, 2020, the officer-in-charge said that the case was just registered at the police station but its investigation is being done by the CID. Contacted IG(CID) Asim Vikrant Minz for his comment he supported OC Singh saying that the matter is still under investigation.
