Ranchi, Dec 12: State Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto today announced that the path for the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) of 61,421 Para teachers of Jharkhand has been cleared. He has signed a file in this regard. The minister said this at a meeting held on Monday.
The minister further stated that a total of 12 percent will be deposited in EPF including six percent from the honorarium of the para teachers, while the other six percent will be provided by the government. The government will also set up a welfare fund for Para teachers.
Around 5 lakhs will be given on the retirement of para teachers from the amount deposited in the welfare fund. Meanwhile, in case of an accidental death, financial assistance of Rs 5 lakhs will be provided. This decision was taken in the departmental review meeting chaired by the minister.
On the other hand, the Block Education Extension Officers (BEEOs) will now be responsible for mid-day meals in government schools of the state. The minister announced that if children do not get mid-day meals in the school even for a single day, then the BEEO’s salary for two days will be deducted.
Along with this, during the review meeting, it was also decided that over 9000 posts for headmasters will be created for middle schools in the state.
Furthermore, it has been decided that now several teachers will be appointed in their home district. This includes women teachers, in cases if both husband and wife are teachers or the teachers are citing health reasons.
K Ravikumar, Secretary of School Education and Literacy Department; Director of Primary Education; Director of Secondary Education; Kiran Kumar Pasi, Director, Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC); Secretary of Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) along with others were present in the meeting.
