Daltonganj, Dec 18: The fate of 27 MBBS students of the 2019 batch of the Medinirai medical college at Pokhraha in Daltonganj hangs in limbo.

They are waiting for their supplementary examinations but the Nilamber Pitamber university has not yet announced dates for the theory and the practical supplementary examinations.

According to the examination cell in charge of the Medinirai medical college at Pokhraha in Daltonganj Dr Nikhil Nishant “These 27 MBBS students are of the 2019 batch. They got plucked in different subjects in their second-year MBBS university  examination.”

“The second-year regular examination result was announced by the Nilamber Pitamber university on 22.9.2022,” added Nishant.

Quoting the guidelines of the National Medical Commission with reference to the 2019 batch of MBBS students all over India Dr Nikhil Nishant said “Supplementary examination of the 2019 batch of MBBS students is mandated by the National Medical Commission to be over within 90 days from the date of the publication of the result of the regular examination. Here the result was declared on 22.9.2022. The mandatory 90 days for the supplementary examination  is going to be over this December 22 but nothing is coming out from the NPU for the supplementary examinations of these 27 failed MBBS students of this medical college.”

“These 27 MBBS students are quite worried and uncertain about their future. All they want is that NPU must hold their supplementary examinations without any more delay,” he added.

On the other hand, the pro vice chancellor of the NPU Dr Deep Narayan Yadav said “We are aware of this issue. There are many examinations in the pipeline. This supplementary examination of the MBBS students is also to be conducted by the university. We hope supplementary examinations of the MBBS students will take place in the first week of January 2023.”

Sources said some of the 27 failed MBBS students have even filed RTI in connection with the marks obtained by them which declared them as failed.

Sources said the RTI applicants have not got any response from the university till date.

Dr Nikhil Nishant said “Some failed MBBS students did have filed RTI and are awaiting a reply from the university. We look forward to the NPU to hold the supplementary examination at the earliest for which our medical college has been sending letters and reminders too.”
