Ranchi, Dec 21: The state government approved on Tuesday that illegal mining has been done by NTPC in the Pankri-Barwadih Coal Project area on 100 acres of land. Illegal mining was done by violating the conditions of forest clearance.

Confirming the illegal mining, the state government has recommended that the Government of India should impose five times fine on NTPC. The government has held the head of NTPC guilty of illegal mining. They added that action will be taken on the basis of the decision taken by the Government of India.

During the illegal mining, the Jeevan Dayini Domuhali Nala/river was destroyed. The head of the establishment has been held responsible for the illegal mining. According to the order of the Government of India, legal action will be taken in the matter.

Notably, the government accepted that two reports have been sent by the Forest Divisional Officer regarding illegal mining on 100 acres of land. The government said that the first report was sent on June 29, 2020, in which it was told to keep 50 meters on both sides of the Dumuhani Nala safe.

Violating the condition of making green belts, illegal mining was done in that area by diverting the drain. Moreover, its detailed report was sent on July 14, 2022, by a two-member team headed by the Indian Forest Service officer Shailendra Singh and illegal work was confirmed by violating the condition.

Furthermore, illegal mining has been done by violating the conditions of forest clearance. Its information has been given to the State Government and the Government of India. The Government of India has constituted a four-member committee to know its ground reality. The committee will visit the site in the coming days.

The state government added that action will be taken against the culprits of the NTPC Pankri-Barwadih coal mining project according to the instructions received from the Government of India in light of the provisions of the Forest Conservation Act 1980.
