New Delhi, Jan 3: The ongoing Ranji Trophy encounter between Delhi and Saurashtra on Tuesday at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot got off to one of the worst starts ever. Six of their eleven batsmen were eliminated before they ever had a chance to bat, and the team was ultimately bowled out for 133 runs. The captain of Saurashtra, Jaydev Unadkat, was the main destructor, scoring 8 for 39 in 12 overs. Unadkat took a hat-trick in the opening over of the match to make bowling history for the Ranji Trophy.

Dhruv Shorey was dismissed by Unadkat on the third ball of the over, which served as his first wicket.

Vaibhav Rawal was out on the following ball, and Yash Dhull was the third victim in a row in the first over after the Delhi captain won the toss and decided to bat first in the game.

Unadkat continued to inflict misery on Delhi, eventually taking the wickets of Jonty Sidhu, Lalit Yadav, Lakshay Thareja, Shivank Vashisht, and Kuldip Yadav to end Delhi’s innings and recording his career-best first-class cricket innings stats. Previously, he had a 7 for 41 record.

Unadkat just had his eagerly awaited opportunity in Test cricket, and he honoured his “promise” by giving a valiant effort in his first game for India in 12 years.

The 31-year-old made his second appearance last month in a match against Bangladesh. The great Sachin Tendulkar and current head coach Rahul Dravid were his famed teammates when he played his first and only Test back in 2010. Unadkat had taken three wickets during the game.
