Daltonganj, Jan 16: The Palamu assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Rishabh Garg visited Vatsalya Dham, a shelter home for the boys in Daltonganj and interacted with the twelve inmates late Sunday.
The superintendent of the Vatsalya Dham Shyam Babu said that it was a surprise visit by the ASp and the boys had no clue about it.
Shyam Babu said the visit of the senior police officer too surprised him as when the man in uniform was in the Vatsalya Dham, Babu was out of it for some prescheduled work of him.
Notably, Vatsalya Dham has a counsellor in Chandrakanta Kumari who is an MA in Psychology and caters to the psychological needs of the inmates, said sources.
The inmates remain in a conflict of interest and the lady counsellor acts like their mother, as informed by the inmates.
Sources said when the inmates saw the police officer they thought him to be on some official errand as in Daltonganj escape of the inmates from the shelter home is not any news but a routine affair once every two months.
Garg told lagatar24.com that he and his wife Vrishali Garg thought to spend Makar Sankranti with the children of lesser gods at Vatsalya Dham and it was an experience to interface with the inmates.
The inmates were glad to have goodies meant for the Makar Sankranti. But the inmates were far happier to get sweaters for each of the 12 inmates from the couple.
