New Delhi, Jan 25: Anil Antony, the son of AK Antony, the former chief minister of Kerala, resigned from all positions in the Congress a day after rejecting the two-part BBC documentary on PM Modi.
The pro-Left Students Federation of India (SFI) and other political organisations showed the contentious BBC documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots on Tuesday throughout Kerala despite objections from the BJP youth wing. The riots occurred during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration of the western state.
The BJP’s Yuva Morcha staged protest marches around Kerala in response to the BBC’s screening of “India: The Modi Question.” However, surprising support for the BJP came from Anil Antony, the son of former Kerala CM AK Antony, who spoke out against the docuseries.
“I have resigned from my roles in @incindia @INCKerala. Intolerant calls to retract a tweet, by those fighting for free speech. I refused. @facebook wall of hate/abuses by ones supporting a trek to promote love! Hypocrisy thy name is! Life goes on. Redacted resignation letter below,” Antony took to Twitter on Wednesday morning and wrote.

Anil K Antony, who opposes the programme, claimed on Tuesday that doing so would “undermine” India’s sovereignty by giving the British broadcaster’s opinions precedence over those of Indian institutions.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “Despite large differences with BJP, I think those in placing views of BBC, a state-sponsored channel with a long history of prejudices, and of Jack Straw, the brain behind the Iraq war, over institutions is setting a dangerous precedence, will undermine our sovereignty.”
