Jamshedpur, Feb 3: A 28-year-old youth identified as Niranjan Pradhan was shot at by an unidentified assailant at Gamharia in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district about 15-km away from here on Friday afternoon.
Pradhan, who is a land dealer and has a dubious background, sustained a bullet injury on his left ear.
The gunshot attack took place near Jaspur railway station in Gamharia when the victim was riding a motorcycle through the stretch toward Adityapur from his house in Dugdha in Gamharia.
As soon as Pradhan was shot at and injured, he rode to the Gamharia police station and informed the police about the incident leading the thana OC, Rajiv Ranjan Singh to rush him to Tata Main Hospital.
The OC said the victim is yet to give a statement to the police as he is under treatment at the Tata Main Hospital.
“We had tried to find out who might be behind the gunshot attack but Pradhan did not say anything. We will ask the victim about the reason behind the attack once he returns from the hospital,” said Singh while talking to lagatar24.com.
The OC said the police are trying to detect the attackers on their own by finding out the eyewitnesses.
