Dhanbad, Feb 6: Manish Kumar of Garhwa district was unanimously elected new secretary while Pradip Verma of Ranchi and Richa Sanchita of Ramgarh were re-elected president and executive president respectively of All Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA) for 2022-2025.
The official of the association said the AGM cum election of the association was held at Sarla Birla School Ranchi on Sunday evening under the supervision of returning officer Vijay Kumar Singh, registrar Sarla Birla University, Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) representative Subendu and All India Chess Association (AICA) observer Naresh Sharma (treasurer).
The election of AJCA had been due since May 2022 but due to an alleged tussle between president Pradip Verma and secretary Neeraj Mishra (International Master) election did not hold. However, a member of the association said Neeraj Mishra resigned on December 31, 2022, and the deck became clear for holding the election.
The official said the resignation of Neeraj Mishra did not keep significance as he had already completed his three terms as an office-bearer (general secretary). Now he will have to go on a cooling period for one term and only after that, he will be eligible to get any post.
The office-bearers of the new committee (2022-25) announced after the election on Sunday at Ranchi are -President – Pradip Verma (Ranchi), executive president- Richa Sanchita (Ramgarh), Vice- presidents –Dhananjay Kumar (Ramgarh), Sunil Khaware (Deoghar), Umashankar Choubey (Dumka), Vijay Kumar Singh (Hazaribagh). Secretary- Manish Kumar (Garhwa), Treasurer – Satish Kumar (Ranchi), Joint secretaries- Anil Kumar Singh (Chatra), Binod Kumar Singh (Deoghar), Deepak Kumar (Hazaribagh), Sujit Kumar Singh (Giridih). Co-ordinator- Prabhat Ranjan Kumar (Bokaro).
Executive members- Alok Kumar Tiwari (Garhwa), Dharmendra Kumar Jaiswal (Latehar), Binod Kumar Jha (Godda) and Jayant Kumar Bhuyan (Jamshedpur).
