Ranchi, Feb 18: The Fifth Mining Conclave was organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce at Hotel Radiance Blue, Ranchi on Saturday.
The theme of the conclave was ‘Impact of Latest Technology in Mining Industry’.
The program was graced by Abu Bakar Siddiqui, Jharkhand State Mines Secretary as the chief guest along with Dr Amritanshu Prasad, Chairman of ICC Jharkhand Chapter and other experts from mining companies of Jharkhand.
Addressing the audience, Dr Prasad emphasized the growing impact of technology on the mining industries. He talked about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and explained how it can help mining companies to find minerals more easily. In his inaugural address, he also focused on sustainability in mining.
Meanwhile, Abu Bakar Siddiqui said Jharkhand is a major producer of coal, iron ore, copper ore, mica and cobalt. The increasing mechanisation of mining, the availability of raw materials and competitive labour cost attracts investors globally. At present, we are using fossil fuels to meet the energy requirement in the country.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) held in Glasgow last year, he added that India will target net zero carbon emissions by 2070. Regarding the Jharkhand government’s upcoming plans, he said the state government is continuously working to improve the mining area, which will have a better impact on the coal and other mining sectors. Along with this, the state government is working on a detailed plan to ensure livelihoods.
During the programme, Jagdish Arora, Director, SAIL (CET) explained the difference between green, grey and black hydrogen in mining and also discussed the impact and benefits of green hydrogen on the mining industry in the near future.
Addressing the conclave’s technical session, Jagdish Arora focused on the impact of technology in the mining sector.
Moreover, Salil Sandeep Kujur, Regional Mines Controller, Indian Bureau of Mines, T K, Advisor, Hindustan Copper Limited, Mukherjee, General Manager Shyam Sunder Sethi and others discussed the topic in detail.
Later, Ganesh Reddy, CEO of Citizens Foundation expressed his gratitude to all the participants. Ajay Kumar and Ganesh Kumar from the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Jharkhand Chapter also attended the event. The program was coordinated by Harsha Agarwal.
