Ranchi: Union Minister of State for Defence and senior BJP leader Sanjay Seth has taken a strong stance on the lathi-charge carried out against protesting students, alleging that it evokes memories of the dark days of the Emergency and accusing the state government of jeopardising the future of the youth.
Seth Targets Rahul Gandhi, Alleges Double Standards
Seth launched a direct attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that his party comes before the country in his thinking, and his family comes even before his party, asserting that his double standards had now been fully exposed. He said the Jharkhand government was surviving on outside support, which was why Rahul Gandhi had remained silent on the entire matter.
Seth Raises Questions Over CID Investigation, Demands CBI Probe
Seth said India’s judicial system is among the best in the world, noting that even the courts had observed how students were cheated. He questioned the CID’s investigation and action, alleging that despite having solid evidence against Arun Kumar, the agency had failed to arrest him for four years, asserting that several influential figures were involved in the scam, which is why the entire country wanted a CBI investigation into the matter.
Seth Cites Former JPSC Chairperson’s Warning Letter
Seth also referenced former JPSC chairperson Nilima Kerketta, describing her as an honest official who had written to the government in 2024 flagging irregularities, yet no action was taken. He further questioned the awarding of the contract to blacklisted company TDPL.
Seth Challenges Rahul Gandhi to Visit Ranchi, Demands Arrests of Police Personnel
Seth challenged Rahul Gandhi to visit Ranchi and personally hear out the students’ grievances. He demanded that footage of the police personnel involved in the lathi-charge be retrieved, FIRs registered against all of them, and immediate arrests made. He said Rahul Gandhi should either ensure the Chief Minister takes action against those responsible or withdraw his party’s support from the state government.
