Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Friday stayed the government’s order cancelling appointments related to the JSSC-CGL and CDPO examinations, while hearing four separate petitions challenging the state’s decision to remove appointed personnel through a notification.
Court Sets Timeline for Government Response
Justice Deepak Roshan’s bench directed the state government to file its response by September 7, after Advocate General Rohit Rai requested a defined timeframe for submitting affidavits in all such related cases. Petitioners were directed to submit their counter-response by September 14, with the court fixing the next hearing for September 15. Advocates Indrajit Sinha and Amritansh Vatsa represented the petitioners.
Multiple Exams and Appointments Challenged
The petitioners have challenged the state government’s cancellation of the advertisement for the CDPO (Child Development Project Officer) examination, as well as the government’s order cancelling the JSSC-CGL examination and its associated appointments. Some petitioners have also challenged the government’s decision to cancel the JPSC’s 11th to 13th Civil Services Examination and the appointment of Food Safety Officers. The court has sought responses from the state government and JPSC specifically regarding the cancellation of the CDPO and JSSC 11th-13th examinations.
Cancellations Followed CID Investigation Findings
The cancellations stem from the state government’s late-night announcement on August 18, based on findings from the CID investigation, cancelling all examinations linked to agency TDPL, along with an announcement to investigate potential irregularities in all recruitment examinations conducted since 2014. Following these announcements, the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department issued a notification cancelling 22 examinations, suspending the process for 6 others, and bringing 17 additional examinations under the scope of investigation.
