New Delhi, Feb 23: Aiden Markram, a South African batter, will serve as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s new captain for the next IPL 2023 season.

With Sunrisers Eastern Cape, SRH’s sister team, Markram has enjoyed great success and most recently guided them to the first SA 20 championship. The 29-year-old will now take over from Kane Williamson, who was let-go by the franchise and went on to join defending champions Gujarat Titans during the IPL 2023 auction.

For a total of three seasons, Williamson has been the franchise’s leader. There were a lot of candidates for the captaincy position, and Mayank Agarwal was one of them.

However, Markram has got the nod and will takeover the former IPL Champions for the new season.

Last season, Markram averaged 47.63 runs per game for SRH across 14 games. The South African batter, who was a member of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape team, scored a hundred runs against the Joburg SuperKings in the semi-final to assist his team advance to the final, where they beat the Pretoria Capitals to win the SA 20 championship.
