Ranchi, Feb.24: Around 2,000 community health officials (CHOs) from across the state today laid siege to the official residence of state health minister Banna Gupta for their 10-point charter of demands.

The demands include regularization of their services, their posting at home town or adjacent places, formulation of rules specifying their role and responsibilities, duty according to population, incentive, Rs 15000 honorarium with basic salary of Rs 25000, percent increment on basic honorarium every year, provident fund deduction from their honorarium, insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh and security against eve teasing and criminal assault.

CHOs are in agitation mode like Sahiyas and contract paramedical staff. On January 27, they staged a demonstration outside the office of the NHM Mission Director. On January 28, they worked wearing black badges. On January 30 they boycotted the work. On February 23 they laid siege over Nepal House secretariat.
