Raipur, Feb 25: Sonia Gandhi, a former Congress chief, attacked the BJP government on Saturday, saying it was ‘fuelling the fire of hatred’ and ‘viciously targeting minorities, women, Dalits and tribals’.
She asked the Congress members to take on the present administration head-on and engage the public to spread the party’s message.
In her speech to the party’s 85th plenary meeting, Gandhi made a subtle jab at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over an issue involving entrepreneur Gautam Adani’s business empire and said that the government was ruining the economy by favouring one particular company.
Every member of Congress, according to her, has a specific duty to the party and the nation at this pivotal time.
The Congress, according to Gandhi, is more than just a political party; it also represents the opinions of people from all castes, religions, and genders. She claimed that the gathering will make all of their aspirations come true.
“This is a particularly challenging time for the Congress and the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP have captured every institution.”
“The BJP is fuelling the fire of hatred and viciously targeting minorities, women, Dalits and tribals,” she alleged.
At the direction of party leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi exhorted the Congress supporters to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
