New Delhi, Feb 28: China today confirmed that its foreign minister, Qin Gang, will attend the Group of 20 (G20) Foreign Ministers’ meeting in India, according to Reuters.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated during a press conference, “The G20 should concentrate on pressing issues affecting the world economy. China is prepared to collaborate with all parties to make sure that the G20 meeting of foreign ministers conveys a constructive message about multilateralism.”

India will preside over the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM), which will be physically held in New Delhi on March 1-2, 2023.

The G20 member countries’ foreign ministers are due to hear from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will discuss India’s expanding global influence.

The G20 foreign ministers’ summit will take place on March 1-2, following a gathering of the group’s finance ministers in Bengaluru.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly will all be present at the summit in New Delhi. There will be attendees from multilateral organisations and representatives from 40 nations, including non-G20 members who have been invited by India.

The White House’s deadline for banning TikTok from federal devices prompted Mao to respond as well.

Due to worries that TikTok’s parent company ByteDance would provide the Chinese Communist Party access to user data, congressional legislation banning the popular video-sharing app from federal government devices and networks was enacted in December, according to the New York Post (NYP).

Before Congress’s vote in December, a number of government organizations—including the White House, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and the State Department—had already preemptively barred TikTok from government-owned devices.
