Daltonganj, March 1: A total of 431 candidates have applied for the PhD entrance test that will be conducted by the Nilamber-Pitamber University on March 22.
The nodal officer for PhD entrance test 2023, Dr R K Jha, said today: “We have received 431 applications till February 28 which was the last date for submitting the applications.”
Jha said: “There is a great element of surprise. 52 applications have come for English PhD here in this university where we have just 13 seats vacant.”
“It’s the History subject which has the highest applications 71. In History, we have 16 seats vacant. The number of applications for Political science and economics is pegged at 38 and 36 respectively. The number of vacant seats in these two subjects are 16 and 12 respectively.”
Commerce finds 45 applications while mathematics 36. The lowest number of applications filed for PhD entrance test is for the subject Home Science which is pegged at 05 only.
Jha said: “We have 134 vacant seats for 14 subjects whose entrance test for the PhD programme will be conducted on March 22 and we have 431 candidates for the entrance test.”
