Chatra, March 22: The recovered clay pots will be sent to laboratories in Delhi and Dehradun by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI), which is excavating a mound in the Obra village of Chatra to learn more about this megalithic site. Obra village in Pathalgada is a location where numerous ancient structures have been discovered time and again. Even several idols were found here.

Knowing this, the ASI team made several trips to the location and, after obtaining permission, excavation began there three months ago.

According to the superintendent archaeologist, Dr. Rajendra Dehuri, clay pots found in the Obra mound require scientific study to understand more about them and the village. He added, ‘We will send these pots to laboratories in Delhi, Bhopal, Dhanbad, Dehradun, and Lucknow’.  Dehuri mentioned Megaliths, apart from Jharkhand, are also found in Bihar, Bengal, and Odisha. According to him, the Obra site’s excavation and study will give the nation’s megaliths a new identity.
