Dhanbad, Mar 24: A four-member technical experts’ team of the Civil Aviation Department, Ranchi today conducted a spot inspection of the two-seater Joyride glider incident here in which two persons, including a passenger and the pilot were injured.

The Ranchi team under Director of the Civil Aviation Department SP Sinha reached Dhanbad during the day and began the spot inspection as well as the crashed glider to find the reason for the technical snag of the incident. The team members did not share the findings of the probe report with media persons saying that they would submit it to the respective department after completion.
After completion of the inspection, the wreckage of the building was removed from the campus of the building.

The two -seater training cum joyride glider fell on a building near Birsa Munda Park under Barwadda police station on Thursday evening just after taking off from Barwadda airstrip in which 14-year-old passenger Kush Singh and pilot captain Balwant Singh were injured badly.

It is the second time the joyride glider has crashed in Jharkhand. In 2020 a glider crashed in Dumka in which the pilot and a technical person were killed.

The state government launched the joyride glider service in Dhanbad in 2018 and later training facility was also provided with the appointment of two captains. After the Dumka incident joyride was suspended in Dhanbad but later resumed after Covid.
