Patna, April 2: Tension continued to prevail in Bihar on Sunday after Ram Navami-related violence was recorded in the districts of Rohtas and Nalanda. The police had to make several arrests as a result of the violence that started on Thursday and persisted until Saturday night in order to preserve law and order in Biharsharif.

Clashes between two groups on Saturday night resulted in one death and several injuries in Nalanda’s Biharsharif. According to authorities, Mukesh Kumar, the deceased, was shot and killed in the Paharpur neighbourhood.
Paramilitary personnel have been deployed, and 80 persons have been detained in Nalanda after racial tension erupted there during Ram Navami celebrations. Last night, there were further confrontations in the Biharsharif area of Nalanda.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah called Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to assess the situation in the wake of the violence that has put Bihar on fire. To help the state administration deal with the aftermath of the violence, the Union Home Ministry has decided to send more paramilitary soldiers to Bihar.

Many individuals were hurt during the alleged community flare-ups in both towns, which resulted in the burning of cars, homes, and businesses.

As a bomb exploded in Sasaram’s Rohtas in Bihar on Saturday while illicit explosives were being handled, at least six persons were hurt. In the Sherganj neighbourhood, the explosion was reported on Saturday night. Two persons were detained by the Bihar Police in relation to the explosion.

The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation after receiving information about the bomb detonation in Sasaram, Rohtas, according to the Bihar Police.

“The blast was reported at a shanty and a scooty has been recovered from the area. Prima facie it does not appear to be a communal incident,” the police said.

Even a day after communal confrontations, tension persisted in Sasaram, despite claims to the contrary made on Saturday by the Biharsharif government that the situation was under control and that no further conflicts had been detected.
