New Delhi, April 10: An Air India flight headed for London had to turn around and head back to Delhi after a passenger got into a fight with the crew mid-flight. The ‘unruly’ passenger caused the flight to return to Delhi soon after takeoff. Air India sent a statement stating that the flight has been rescheduled to arrive in London this afternoon.
Two cabin staff members were allegedly struck by the belligerent passenger, according to sources. After a brief scuffle, the Air India flight was forced to return to Delhi after departing from Delhi at 6:35 am. At roughly 9.40 am, the plane touched down in Delhi once more.
The airline has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Airport Police about the incident and handed over the unruly passenger to the police.
“Air India flight AI 111 scheduled to operate Delhi-London Heathrow on April 10, 2023 returned to Delhi shortly after departure due to the serious unruly behaviour of a passenger on board. Not heeding to verbal and written warnings, the passenger continued with unruly behaviour including causing physical harm to two of the cabin crew members,” Air India said in a statement.
