New Delhi, April 13: Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, reacted to the assassination of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad in an encounter by the Special Task Force Police of Uttar Pradesh by accusing the BJP of attempting to deflect attention from the genuine problems.

He said on Twitter, “By doing false encounters, the BJP government is trying to divert attention from the real issues. The BJP does not believe in the court at all. Today’s and recent encounters should also be thoroughly investigated, and the culprits should not be spared. Power does not have the right to decide what is right or wrong. BJP is against brotherhood.”

Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), also commented on the UP STF’s killing of Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad during an encounter. She claimed that this encounter is the subject of numerous discussions.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the BJP party in response to Asad’s encounter.  “Will those who killed Junaid and Naseer be killed in an encounter? No, you will not because you encounter in the name of religion.”

Asaduddin Owaisi further said, “You are trying to weaken the rule of law. Then why Court? Why Judges? Why CrPC, IPC? Why Public Prosecutor?”

“If you decide to provide justice through bullets (encounter) then close the Courts,” added Owaisi.

Asad, a wanted suspect in the murder of Umesh Pal, was killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Jhansi. He was the son of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed. The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, under the direction of Deputy SP Navendu and Deputy SP Vimal, also killed another guy during the encounter, Ghulam, who had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head.

Asad’s encounter occurs on the same day that Atiq Ahmed, a gangster-turned-politician, appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Prayagraj in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal.
