Ranchi, May 5: The celebration of Perfusion Appreciation Week began at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Jharkhand’s capital.
The perfusionist is the pivot of cardiac open-heart surgery. During surgery, they control the entire physiology of the patient with the help of an artificial heart-lung machine and provide a bloodless field for the surgeon to work better, allowing the surgeon to be worry-free and give the patient new life by performing better surgery.
RIMS CTVS department head Dr Vineet Mahajan informed Lagatar24.com saying ‘the first week of May is observed all over the world as Perfusion Appreciation Week’
Sharing its significance, Dr Mahajan said: “The first objective of celebrating this week is to recognize the Perfusionist and his work at the international level so that the importance of the perfusionist and his work in cardiac surgery can be understood and people can be made aware of it.”
Explaining the role of perfusionists, Dr Mahajan said: “The excellent contribution of perfusionists in cardiac surgery cannot be denied. Therefore, the week is celebrated to give motivation and respect to them.”
