Jamshedpur, May 8: An elderly teacher who makes a living by running a primary-level school at Satbohni in Gamharia is running from pillar to post to take possession of his plot of land from his neighbour since 2006.

Despite being a bonafide owner of a rayati land, the hapless teacher, Kanhu Kishore Bera, is compelled to stay at a rented house near his school.

Measuring just 840 square feet, the plot in question is located near Basanti Mandir at Satbohni in Jamalpur mouja under the Adityapur Thana area having Hafiza Begum as his neighbour.

“I had bought the plot of land from Samir Chowdhury son of Late Anil Chowdhury in the year 2006.  As Hafiza Begum’s husband Abdul Rahman was known to me, I asked him to buy the plot as it was too small to build a house. But Rahman declined to do that as he has enough space at his residential premises. Then I bought it and got it registered in Seraikela before getting the land mutated in the Gamharia Circle Office in the year 2006 only, ” narrated Bera while talking to lagatar24.com

“But as I started raising a boundary wall, Hafiza Begum and her children started pelting stones at me and the labourers engaged in the boundary wall construction forcing me to stop the work, ” the teacher said.

The poor teacher who hails from a lower economic strata said he approached the local thana, but the police did not do anything to resolve the issue, apparently not taking the matter seriously.

“Then while I kept on trying to take possession of the land by approaching the CO, Gamharia, Hafiza Begum came out with a paper claiming that the plot in question belongs to her, claiming that she has bought it and got registered it in the year 2008.

Bera stated that in the following years, he approached the SDM Seraikela and SP, Seraikela-Kharsawan, but nothing positive happened, leading Hafiza Begum to continue grabbing his plot of land.

The teacher mentioned that Hafiza Begum’s son Amzad eventually became a lawyer who now practices at the Seraikela court. Ever since he became the lawyer the family declared that the land in their possession may not be set free at any cost.

Moreover, the people residing in Satbohni pointed out that the stature of Advocate Amzad will rise further as he has already been selected as an assistant public prosecutor though his posting is yet to be made.

Significantly, Bera has submitted a fresh petition with the Adityapur thana, requesting the police to get him back his plot of land and the enquiry is on.
