Dhanbad, May 10: One member team of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Dr Divya Gupta today visited the Bhuda area-based Dhanbad Child Remand Home for juveniles and assessed the conditions in which children are living.
Dr Gupta, who reached here in the morning from New Delhi, along with local authorities reached the child remand home and took details of facilities being provided to inmates, their trial status and their care system.
Dr Gupta said that on the directive of the Prime Minister NCPCR team is conducting an assessment of child remand homes across the country and collecting detailed reports of their status. If a deficiency is found in any child remand home during the inspection, that would be subject to compliance duly.
The NCPCR member expressed dissatisfaction over the management of Dhanbad’s remand home and observed that the staff deployed in the remand home do not know what are their responsibility and duty. It seems they are just discharging their duty to save jobs.
“ Major irregularities were found in the remand home during the inspection. I would send the report to the deputy commissioner (DC) and senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Dhanbad about the deficiencies found in the remand home so that it could be removed “, said Dr Divya Gupta.
Dr Gupta said that she became shocked to find that there was no picture of the President of India and the Prime Minister in any government office. President and the Prime Minister do not belong to any political party. These are constitutional posts and must be in the office of government. It is a matter of shame that their pictures are missing in the office.
