Dhanbad, May 8: Panic prevailed among students after miscreants set the boundary fencing green curtain of DAV School Rangamati, Sindri junior wing on fire in the morning of Wednesday.
Principal of the school Ashutosh Kumar said that the fire was spotted at around 9 am when classes of students were in progress. Having seen fire panic prevailed among students. However swift action of staff, teachers and some locals controlled the fire.
In this regard, DAV School Sindri principal lodged a complaint at the Baliapur police station under which the institution falls and sought protection from anti-social elements.
In this regard, he has also written to the deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhanbad and the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for providing security to school where over 1800 children of Govindpur, Balaipur, Dhanbad blocks and Jharia circles are studying.
DAV Sindri School, situated at Rangamati around 32 km away from Dhanbad district headquarters, has been set up on the land of Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI) Sindri but some local social elements have been opposing the fencing of both senior and junior wings grounds of the school for the last five years.
For the protection of junior students, the school has covered the boundary fencing of the ground with a green curtain.
On the directive of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), New Delhi fencing of a junior wing playground was constructed for the protection of students.
Principal Ashutosh Kumar expressed apprehension that on May 6 the school management had complained about the forceful and unauthorized use of ground by some local people in the police station. The miscreants might have tried to sabotage in retaliation by burning the curtain cover.
“ This is not new. Though the majority of the students are local notwithstanding miscreants, the miscreants throw liquor bottles on the ground and sometimes threw stones on the window of classrooms during school time”, said the principal.
