Jamshedpur, May 12: Tata Steel’s Security department official B Dhananjay was injured on being shot at by three bike-borne miscreants near Old Court on Subernarekha Road under Sakchi thana area late on Thursday night.
A resident of Farm Area in Kadma, Dhananjay was returning home from a friend’s house at Mango at about 11 pm when he was shot at and injured.
The victim sustained a bullet injury on his left wrist and has been admitted to the Tata Main Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
From the preliminary investigation by the police, it seems that Dhananjay was shot at by the bike-borne miscreants following a brawl between the victim and the miscreants over the riding style of the latter.
According to a statement given to the police, Dhananjay pointed out the three miscreants were riding in the same direction as he was coming, but the trio were riding on the road in a serpentine way and were causing obstacles. Irked with the unruly manner of the three, Dhananjay objected to the way of riding and soon an altercation broke up between them.
As miscreants were unknown and their freak behaviour was not worth giving much significance, Dhananjay bowed down and resumed riding his bike. But after going further 200 metres or so, the miscreants came from behind and one of the pillion riders fired a shot targeting the security official.
Dhananjay who is an assistant sub-inspector in the company’s security department fell down on being shot at. The victim was then rescued by some passersby and he was subsequently admitted to the hospital by his family members.
A police party from the Sakchi thana reached the spot getting the information about the shooting, but by then the miscreants had already disappeared from the scene.
A police officer said they have recovered an empty cartridge from the crime scene and claimed to have started detecting the miscreants by taking CCTV footage from the area.
