Jamshedpur, May 30: Unknown criminals made a bid of burglary at the Bank of India’s (BoI) Kolabira branch under Seraikela thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district about 25 km away from here in the wee hours on Tuesday.
Though the burglars had succeeded in entering the bank premises by breaking the grill, they could not reach to the vault.
Having got information about the burglary bid, a police party from Seraikela thana rushed to the spot followed by a team of BoI management. After verification, the bank management declared that the cash and other valuables in the vault were intact.
The BoI’s Kolabira branch is accommodated in a double-storeyed building in a residential area along the Seraikela-Kandra road.
The criminals had entered into the bank premises on the first floor having ripped apart the grill. They had climbed onto the first floor by means of pipes.
Significantly, before swooping over the bank the burglars had locked the front doors of all the residential houses in the neighbourhood. As the doors were locked from the outside, the house owners had a tough time getting rid of the situation.
Sub-divisional police officer, Seraikela, Harvinder Singh confirmed that an abortive burglary attempt was committed at the BoI’s Kolabira branch on the intervening night of Tuesday.
“We are trying to detect the criminals involved in burglary attempt though the bank management has declared that the criminals could not reach upto the vault, ” said the SDPO while talking to lagatar24.com.
