Dhanbad, June 10: Senior lawyers Amrendra Sahay and Jitendra Kumar have been re-elected president and general secretary respectively of the Dhanbad Bar Association for the 2023-25 term.
Sahay defeated Radheyshyam Goswamy by 317 votes. He was polled 957 votes while his nearest rival Goswamy got 640. The third candidate Harish Joshi was polled 107 votes.
For the post of general secretary Jitendra Kumar (749 votes) beat Videsh Dan (640) by 109 votes to retain his seat for a second term. Six candidates were in the race.
The election of the Dhanbad Bar Association was held under the supervision of the State Bar Council on June 8. The counting of votes started on Friday. The result was declared late evening (at around 9.15 pm) yesterday.
Earlier, the result of the vice-president post was declared first. Dhaneswar Mahto (587) defeated his nearest rival PK Bhattacharya (342) by 245 votes. Five candidates had contested for the post.
Braj Kishore Karn (536) became joint secretary of administration. He defeated Amit Kumar Singh (486) by 52 votes. A total of seven candidates were in the fray.
Kedarnath Mahto (491) was elected joint secretary (library). He defeated Narendra Kumar Trivedi (452) by 39 votes. A total of six candidates were in the race.
Meghnath Rawani (630) was elected treasurer, He defeated Mukul Kumar Tiwary( 423) by 207 votes. A total of seven candidates were in the fray. Dipak Shah (684) became the new assistant treasurer after defeating Diwakar Prasad Srivastava (470) by 214 votes. A total of four candidates were in the race.
The counting of votes of Governing Council members would be held today.
State Bar Council observers Sanjay Kumar Vidrohi, Parmeswar Mandal, election committee members Devisharan Sinha, HC Mallick and Arun Kumar Tiwary conducted the poll and counting of votes under their supervision.
