Senior citizens beaten, robbed in Deoghar village by miscreants

Deoghar, June 15: Not only in urban areas but even in villages senior citizens are not safe in their houses and are being targeted by thieves.

Senior citizen Ramesh Chandra Singh and his wife were held captive and robbed by a group of men late on Wednesday in Kukrah Panchayat under the Chitra police station area in Deoghar. Both of them were even beaten up by miscreants simply for not cooperating with them. Miscreants were half a dozen in number and all were masked with cloth.

Talking to the media, SDPO Sarath Dhirendra Narayana  Banka has confirmed the incident. He said that four miscreants crept into the house of Ramesh Chandra around 2 am on Thursday. They thrashed them and looted valuables kept in the house. On the basis of the statement given by the victim, police have booked the case and started its exercise to nab the culprits.

Talking to the media, Pappu Singh, son of the victim claimed that robbers looted assets worth Rs 6 lakh including cash and jewellery. He was informed by the locals about the incident and then he was able to inform the police. Pappu Singh said that his old father and mother were beaten up brutally. She was made captive in a room after being stripped off of whatever Jewellery she was wearing.

Notably, both senior citizens used to stay at home alone.
