Hazaribag, June.22: A government doctor of Sheikh Bhikari Medical College and Hospital is under the scanner for taking a patient to a private nursing home and performing a surgery resulting in her death.  The girl namely Aarti Kumari (16) was a resident of Keredari block and was brought here for treatment of stomach pain. As the girl died at a Jharkhand nursing home, her relatives blocked the GGS road near Chhath Talab this evening demanding action against the doctor.

Her father Charku Turi charged a senior resident doctor of the medical college and hospital, Dr Utkrisht Kant for doing the wrong surgery of his daughter resulting in her death. He said they came to the hospital last night to get Aarti treated but Dr Kant forced them to take the patient to a private nursing home. Charku said at the nursing home, they were asked to pay Rs1 lakh for appendix surgery of Aarti. When we pleaded our inability, the hospital management asked us to pay Rs 85,000. Charku said he agreed to pay this amount and went to Bakchuma village in Keredari to arrange the money. But in his absence, the surgery took place which deteriorated the condition of Aarti resulting in her death. He said as Aarti died, Dr Kant escaped from there.

Her relatives blocked the road near Chhath Talab this evening at 5:15 demanding an FIR against Kant. The Officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, Amit Lakda reached the spot and assured proper action after the inquiry. He convinced agitators after which jam was called off.
