Ramgarh, July 1: A campaign has been launched in various schools of the district to make the district plastic-free.

On the initiative of young environmentalist and coordinator of Polythene Donation Centre Upendra Pandey, children were motivated to make cloth bags while starting the Selfie with Jhola campaign at Shri Krishna Vidya Mandir, Ramgarh on Friday.

Pandey said that July 3 is International Plastic Liberation Day. On this occasion, a new resolution will be taken to make Ramgarh a plastic-free district.  Under this, a ‘Selfie with Jhola’ campaign has been started in collaboration with 15 schools of the district.

Under the programme, every student of the school involved in Shri Krishna Vidya Mandir Abhiyan must make a cloth bag under the school project work.

They have to take the exchange bag home and keep it in their home vehicle and photograph it.  Students can also show their creativity through some artwork on the bag.

The bag has to be deposited in the school by July 1.  Before this, one has to take a photo along with the bag.

On July 3, students will take the exchange bag home and keep it in their vehicle and take a photo. Both the photos have to be sent on the WhatsApp number given in the school. Others also have to be made aware to use cloth bags.

Pandey said that on July 3, photographs of about 10,000 bags from various schools of Ramgarh will be sent to the Prime Minister and the environment minister. To deliver this message, all the people of Ramgarh are engaged with full dedication and devotion.

Later, a Jhola Bank will also be made. On this occasion, School President Anand Agarwal (Advocate), Secretary Vimal Kishore Jaju and Administrator SP Sinha appreciated this campaign and inspired the students to take part in this campaign.
