Dhanbad, July 1: The Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA) state umpire examination will be held in Dumka from July 21 to 23 during the Yonex Sunrise State badminton championship cum selection trial for the East Zone championship 2023.
Giving this information, Jharkhand Badminton Association secretary K Prabhakar Rao said that each district is eligible to send a minimum of two candidates for the above-said state umpiring examination. “Preference has been given to the district association to nominate female candidates for the examination,” said Rao.
An interested person, 45 years of age or below, may appear at the badminton umpiring examination through the district association. JBA joint secretary Sachin Rana said that for umpiring it is not mandatory that the candidate should be a badminton player. Any interested person aspiring to be an umpire can participate in the examination if he has technical knowledge.
JBA secretary K Prabhakar Rao, who is also joint secretary of the national body, has focused on promoting badminton umpires in the state. Recently, umpires of Jharkhand Avinash Kumar Tiwari (national grade-2), Alok Singh, Madhurendra Kumar,Anurag Kumar, Wasim Akram, Amit Modak, and Barun Kumar made their mark in the technical officials ( umpire ) examination organized by the Badminton Association of India under the auspices of the World Badminton Federation held in Bhubaneswar last year.
As per the circular issued by Jharkhand Badminton Association secretary K Prabhakar Rao, candidates for the examination should come in a proper dress code (black pants, white shirt, and black shoes) during the practical. The candidate should also carry all essential gadgets and certificates.
