Jamshedpur, July 5: The 28-year-old youth Ashwin Kumar who was admitted at the Tata Motors Hospital sustaining gunshot injuries on Wednesday morning, succumbed to his injuries in the afternoon.
The victim who was a resident of Sheshnaag locality at Chhota Govindpur in suburban Govindpur had sustained at least three shots.
One of the shots had penetrated into a vital region in the chest and while the victim was being operated upon, he died.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (CCR) Animesh Gupta who is now in charge of the City confirmed about Ashwin Kumar’s death.
“The reason behind the gun-shot attack is gang rivalry. The assailants responsible for the murder have been identified. We will arrest them all soon, ” said Gupta while talking to lagatar24.com.
The DSP under whose jurisdiction Govindpur thana falls said during Holi too a bloody clash had taken place between the two gangs and the victim belonged to one of them.
“But the gun-shot attack on Ashwin this morning was triggered following an altercation over the mobile phone with one Suraj Yadav, a key member of the rival gang a few days ago, ” the DSP revealed.
According to sources, Deepak Kumar and Mukesh Jha had launched the gun-shot attack on getting instruction from Suraj Yadav.
Son of Awdheshlal Verma, Ashwin would carry out a business of land sale-purchase in the Govindpur area.
Ashwin was on his way to a crematorium for attending the last rites of a relative in Govindpur this morning when he was attacked by the two bike-borne criminals. Before riding to the crematorium, he had taken some of his potential clients to the Khakripara area for showing plots of land.
