Monsoon trough revives, heavy showers forecast in isolated areas over Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, July 15:  The monsoon trough which had drifted towards the foothills of Himalayas got revived over Jharkhand, increasing the possibility of widespread and heavy rainfall in the next few days.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Bikaner, Alwar, Gwalior, Sidhi, Daltonganj, Shantiniketan and thence eastwards to south Mizoram extending upto 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

A cyclonic circulation is also likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal

around July 16 which is expected to give momentum to the rainfall activity over the state.

According to the Met office forecast, heavy rain is likely at isolated places over west and adjoining central parts of the state today, Saturday.

Tomorrow ‘s forecast indicated thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places while heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Gumla, Khunti, Simdega and West- Singh hum  on Monday.

Jharkhand’s rain deficit as of today stood at 46 %. Against a normal of 326 mm, the state has so far received 174 mm of rain.
