Daltonganj, July 15: Now, the focus is on the presumptive TB. It’s containment and elimination are as vital as the active cases of the TB.

The government of India has set a target for TB Mukt Bharat by 2025. One of the major stumbling blocks in it is the presumptive TB. It has to be discovered first and then to start treatment for it.

District TB officer Dr Anil Kumar Srivastav said the discovery of the presumptive TB cases is a very major task for eliminating TB in the country.

Presumptive TB has 5 symptoms like fever persisting for over 2 weeks, coughing for over 2 weeks, blood in sputum, sweating at night, weight loss etc.

Dr Srivastav said ANMs and GNMs are being trained to discover presumptive TB cases and to bring them to the nearest health centre for screening for the TB.

The first lot of training was completed on Friday. There would be 5 more such lot of training for the ANMs and the GNMs, he said.

Any ANM or GNM who discovers presumptive TB case and on screening TB is confirmed then the discoverer ANM or GNM would get incentive money worth 500 rupees per screened presumptive TB patient.

Again, it is 1,000 rupees in total of 6 months if a health worker promotes intake of anti-TB medicines quite regularly, without even a day break.

A confirmed TB patient gets 500 rupees per month for a period of 6 months for his or her nutritional value-added food.
