Adityapur, July 16: The RIT police station area of Adityapur Colony, the residential area of Adityapur, has become a hub of brown sugar these days. The brown sugar business is thriving here. The influence of brown sugar has increased to such an extent that the youth in the market have turned the shops into open drug consumption spots and are openly indulging in drug addiction. Concerned intellectuals have continuously highlighted this issue and have urged the local police to take immediate action to address the problem. They have also expressed their distress over the impact of drug addiction on the careers of the affected youth and have planned to meet the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the district soon.

Local people told that the market between Road No. 7 and 8 of the RIT police station area has become a den of anti-social elements these days. There is a practice to consume drugs and gamble in the evening. The intellectuals of the area told that the possibility of an increase in criminal incidents in the area cannot be ruled out due to such an environment. By taking advantage of the darkness by encroachment and moving the shop forward, wrong work is being done. There are quarters in front of it, where noble people reside. They are troubled by such activities.

They say that this situation is not good, it is becoming difficult for the women of the house to leave. The biggest hub of brown sugar in the city is the Muslim basti of the Adityapur police station area, where murders go on every day because of supremacy over this drug business. In such a situation, now its heat reaching the RIT police station area is becoming fatal for the people of a residential and posh area. Regarding this matter, on Saturday evening, the social worker created a ruckus and chased the drug addicts out of the market on routes 7-8 and also appealed to the common people not to give shelter to such anti-social elements.
